attempts to kill it by blocking the air intake are halted because... TOO MUCH DAMNED PLASTIC IN THE ENGINE BAY HIDING ALL THE PARTS!!!

Would blocking/plugging the exhaust work?
I don't know if anyone would be travelling with a potato but a rolled up sock/shirt?
I would hate to run into one of these situations and be blocked by plastic

the other suggestion in the article was to put it in a high gear and dump the clutch to stall it, I guess not really an option in an auto though
